Short version: yes, Levi's are made in Bangladesh, among many other countries, and the company confirms it on its own published factory list. A Bangladesh label does not mean your jeans are fake. In fact, genuine Levi's are made in a lot of countries, so the country stamp alone tells you very little about authenticity.

Where are Levi's made?

Levi Strauss & Co. is an American company, but Levi's jeans have been made around the world for decades. The brand largely stopped mass US production years ago and now relies on a global network of contract factories. Levi's are made in countries including Bangladesh, China, Vietnam, India, Mexico, Pakistan, and others, depending on the product and the season.

Levi's closed its last major US plants in the early 2000s and now does only occasional, limited "Made in USA" releases, so the vast majority of Levi's sold worldwide are produced overseas. Seeing a country other than the USA on the tag is completely normal for the brand.

Levi's publishes its factory list, and Bangladesh is on it

Here is what makes Levi's easy to verify. Unlike some brands that keep their supply chain hidden, Levi Strauss & Co. was an early mover on supply-chain transparency and publishes a list of the factories that make its products. Levi's was in fact one of the first major apparel companies to disclose its active supplier list publicly (Trellis / GreenBiz), and it aligns with the industry Transparency Pledge (Levi Strauss & Co. sustainability disclosures, accessed 2026).

That published factory list includes suppliers in Bangladesh, with garment factories in manufacturing hubs like Chittagong (Chattogram). Levi's also files a California Transparency in Supply Chains Act statement describing how it monitors its supply chain. In other words, Bangladesh production is not a rumor or a red flag: it is disclosed by Levi's itself.

So if your Levi's say "Made in Bangladesh," they are made exactly where the company says some of its jeans are made.

"But are they fake?" How to actually tell

This is the heart of the question, so let us be clear: the country of origin alone cannot tell you whether a pair of Levi's is real or counterfeit. Genuine Levi's come from Bangladesh, China, Vietnam, and many other places, so "Made in Bangladesh" is expected on real jeans.

To judge authenticity, look at these instead:

Stitching and construction. Real Levi's have neat, even, consistent stitching, including the arcuate (the double-arc pattern) on the back pockets. Sloppy or crooked stitching is a warning sign.
The red Tab and patch. Check the small red Tab on the back pocket and the leather-look patch. Fonts, spelling, and stitching should be crisp and correct.
Buttons and rivets. These are usually stamped with "LEVI STRAUSS & CO" or similar markings. Blank or misspelled hardware is suspicious.
The interior care and content label. A genuine label lists fiber content, care instructions, and often a style and lot number. This is also where the country of origin sits.
Price and seller. A deal that is too good to be true, from an unknown seller, is the classic counterfeit setup. Thrift-store finds like Goodwill are usually genuine, just older or from a different market.

If those all check out, a Bangladesh label is a non-issue. It is a normal, genuine origin for Levi's.

One common source of confusion is thrifted or vintage pairs. People find an old cut they love at Goodwill, see a Bangladesh label, and assume it must be counterfeit because it does not match a pair they remember from years ago.
